Before the Omega-3 Diet, There Was Vitamin E
It's easy to say that vitamins are important, but it's also easy to forget about them. Everybody gets caught up in the routine, so let's take a miniature to revise our vitamin top-ten. Vitamin E and omega-3s are two of the most important ingredients to a smart, healthy body.
Vitamine
Chemistry aside, if you don't take these, your reasoning performance and physical appearance will suffer. Luckily, they are easy to find, especially if you take a multivitamin, and a distilled fish oil supplement. You can find vitamin E in all sorts of legumes, pumpkins, nuts and seeds.
Because vitamin E seems to be all over, we forget about the consequences of leaving it out. Nearby the turn of the century it was discovered that vitamin E would help infants recover from low birth-weight.
So, we figured out that the body tends to grow abnormally without vitamin E. This holds true in some tissues for adults. Infants who are undersized could take vitamin E and they would be able to return to a normal weight. Adults who take vitamin E avoid the symptoms of myopathy, weak bones, and an impaired immune system.
The Vitamin E, Omega-3 Connection
Imagine how any of these could influence your daily routine, and how easy they are to avoid. Scientists are just now discovering that vitamin E works well with omega-3, and that it's important to take vitamin E and omega-3 at the same time, so that they are ingested together by tissues and cells. One manages enzymes, while the other handles basic nutrition.
Omega-3 Diet
Most of us taking a multivitamin and a fish oil supplement don't have to worry about timing. If you're getting plenty of fish everyday and taking a multivitamin then you're probably getting the benefits of vitamin E, but you may not get the "bonus" of simultaneous intake.
This brings me to the purpose of supplements-- to make up for situations where you can't eat what you need for vitamins and nutrients. Many of these situations want the knowledge that, because you're taking a daily supplement, you're getting plenty of Epa, Dha, and vitamin E.
It is not necessarily good to look for a fish oil supplement that is loaded with vitamin E. Getting the proper dosage means paying concentration to separate, pure sources. So, I always advise checking the label, doing research, and bringing your calculator to the grocery store, or using easy tools available at distilled fish oil sites.
